About Apylon and the opportunity
Apylon is building the intelligent revenue compliance platform for European healthcare. Billions of euros flow between hospitals and insurers through fragmented, manual workflows — a maze of rules, formats, and contracts.
We believe this is a machine learning and automation problem disguised as financial operations.
Apylon is backed by experienced operators and top-tier investors in healthcare and fintech. Our team draws on experience from Zendesk, Pleo, Wawa Fertility, Sibill, and some of the largest multi-country hospital groups in Europe.
You will join the first small engineering team and help turn early traction into a scalable product. You’ll have massive ownership and influence over both what we build and how we build it.
This is primarily a backend role with meaningful work on data pipelines and LLM-powered workflows.
You’ll build systems that turn messy real-world healthcare and payer data into reliable, scalable product primitives.
Delivering healthcare is hard. Getting paid for it shouldn’t be.
You’ll be responsible for
- Shaping Apylon’s core architecture and engineering culture as an early engineering team member.
- Building backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Creating intelligent systems that turn payer contracts and billing rules from natural language into executable logic.
- Building automated feedback loops that turn human insight into code — directly improving financial outcomes for healthcare providers.
- Owning your work end-to-end: from design to deployment and monitoring.
Who you are
- 4+ years of experience building scalable applications in complex domains — you love solving hard problems that matter.
- Product-minded — you care as much about why we build something as how.
- You write clean, pragmatic, and elegant code.
- You actively use coding agents and LLMs to move faster — not just out of curiosity, but because you see how they can redefine how software is built.
- You’ve worked with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
- You’re comfortable wearing many hats — from backend architecture to quick experiments.
- You thrive in ambiguity and turn it into structure.
Bonus points
- Experience taking products from 0→1 or scaling fast-growing systems.
- You’ve worked in a fast-growing environment where priorities shift quickly, and you helped bring clarity and structure.
- Exposure to healthcare, fintech, or regulated domains.
Our tech stack
- Python · Django · React · PostgreSQL · AWS · K8s · Terraform · Bedrock
- We’re pragmatic — you’ll have a big say in how it evolves.
What Apylon offers
- The chance to solve one of Europe’s biggest healthcare inefficiencies.
- Competitive salary + stock options (you’ll own part of what you build).
- 25 days of annual leave + local public holidays.
- Lunch on us during workdays at the office.
- Regular off-sites and social events — we like building together, not just working together.
- Remote (Europe), or working from Berlin, Milan or Copenhagen.
- This role may require international travel within the EU on a roughly monthly cadence.
Working at Apylon means embarking on a highly ambitious mission to rebuild the financial infrastructure of European healthcare. We’re already live with leading private hospitals, processing thousands of invoices, proving that complex payer rules can be turned into code - powering transparent, automated, and intelligent revenue systems.
How to apply. If you're excited by the challenge of building intelligent, high-impact systems at the core of European healthcare and enjoy shipping fast, we'd love to hear from you.
